Pierre Tapie holds an Engineering degree from the Ecole Polytechnique of Paris, a Ph.D. in Biophysics from Paris XI University and an MBA from INSEAD. He began his career committing 10 years as Scientist to research and strategy in Biophysics and Biotechnology at Elf-Sanofi. Subsequently, he was Dean of Purpan Graduate School in Engineering and CEO of Intellagri, a venture capital company. Dr Tapie became Dean and President of ESSEC Business School in September 2001.
Among his other current responsibilities, Dr. Tapie chairs the Conférence des Grandes Ecoles, is Treasurer of Paris Biotech (a venture incubator) and Chairman of the Board of Overseers of Cergy University. In 2008, he became Chairman of the Board of the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative (GRLI), a foundation created by the EFMD and UN Global Compact. He also serves as Chairman of the AACSCB’s international task force of the PRiME implementation in the AACSB Business Schools, and as Member of the Globalization Task Force of AACSB. Dr Tapie lectures and writes extensively on the challenges and organization of higher education, global responsibility, and business ethics.
