High quality speakers, rich content, concrete paths toward the Common Good, a reaffirmation that new leadership is possible and the launch of the Zermatt Summit Declaration – the Zermatt Summit 2012 continued to foster a more human globalization.
From June 21-23, the Zermatt Summit welcomed 150 international figures from the economic, political, religious, artistic and associative worlds. This year, the Summit’s actions and reflections were centered on the theme of the Common Good.
Emblematic international figures
Over thirty speakers were present to share their point of views on the current state of globalization and to propose workable solutions – solutions to create a new paradigm, to put the individual back at the center of the globalization process, of the enterprise, and life and to put new forms of leadership in place.

The Zermatt Summit Declaration: bedrock of the Foundation’s actions
On Thursday, June 21, Christopher Wasserman, President of the Zermatt Summit Foundation, unveiled the Zermatt Summit Declaration in the presence of the participants and the members of the Board of the Zermatt Summit Foundation. The Declaration not only invites political leaders and personalities from both civil and economic society to promote the Common Good in all their actions, but also symbolically to sign the Declaration.
The Zermatt Summit Declaration is an important statement upon which the Foundation’s activity will be built. Its 12 articles consist of affirmations and engagements. In the fourth paragraph, signatories state their conviction that overcoming the current economic crisis depends upon every one of us assuming his/her responsibilities and promising to resolutely promote the Common Good in a spirit of service and love. Answering this call for action is all the more pressing given the present magnitude of the challenges currently faced by humanity.
The Zermatt Summit Declaration is also intended to be signed by any person willing to act for a more human globalization and a new leadership.

The Dream of Entrepreneurship Award
The Dream of Entrepreneurship Award is organized by the Centre des Jeunes Dirigeants d’entreprise (CJD), the Ecophilos and Zermatt Summit Foundations and managed by DreamShake.com. On June 23 in Zermatt at the occasion of the 2nd edition of the “Festival du Rêve de l’Entrepreneuriat” three finalists were awarded 25,000€ in prize money and value, including a full year of coaching by CJD members.
The three young entrepreneurs were acclaimed for the high potential of their projects and for their strong – economic, social, societal and environmental positioning.
This year’s winners were:
- First Prize: Gold of Bengal, Corentin de Chatelperron (new bio-based composite jute fiber)
- Second Prize: Ecofrugal Project, Philippe Green (database of economic and ecological solutions)
- Third Prize: Drôle de Pain, Antoine Soive (socially and ecologically responsible bakery)

As the Zermatt Summit drew to a close on June 23, Christopher Wasserman invited all participants to come back next year. The 4th edition will once again ask participants to reflect, share, propose and act for the purpose of putting the human person back at the heart of the globalization process.
