Relaunch Europe

9th edition - 17–19 September 2026

Against ideologies, the choice of the common good. A plea for realism.

Building on eight editions of international stature focused on innovation and Christian ethics applied to the economy, the Zermatt Summit has chosen to evolve towards dimensions that are both more global and more fundamental – which cannot be fully accounted for by the framework and logic of economics alone. Common sense and the common good are the two strands of a reflection driven by concerns for civilisation.

This year, it is the future of Europe that is close to our hearts. Although it remains a privileged place on earth, our continent is demographically depleted, economically in decline and politically gridlocked. The European Union – which once held such promise – seems to have become a vast entity without a soul, direction or compass. This organisation crystallises the anxieties of its peoples. Switzerland, engaged in demanding bilateral relations, is questioning the wisdom of moving ever closer to it.

How can Europe reclaim its rightful place, develop a strategic vision, restore democracy in action, and embody the common good, the fruit of ancient and Christian culture?

We intend to consider how to ensure that realism takes precedence over ideology, so that a renewed sense of purpose may prevail over resignation. The pursuit of the common good is a matter of urgency for Europe, that beacon of civilisation which has become the world’s weakest link.
